Sorry, forgot to look in the manual for this last night... There is what I remember was called something like a "multi-purpose bracket" that holds several important modules, and the ALM is one of those. You probably have to drop the lower hush panel under the steering column and go up under there somewhere to find it. More details if I can find any...

Yes, in the middle there. I know I saw a diagram in the manual that showed its location. I assume the diagnostic test that'* needed is to remove (unplug) it and check various voltages across the connectors... Doesn't sound like it'* going to be much fun to track down... :(

Okay, I'm back, with the manual this time.

There are two modules: the Adaptive Lamp Monitor module and the Lamp Control Module. The Adaptive Lamp Monitor is what drives the warning center, and it'* mounted behind the center of the "Instrument Panel (I/P)," or what we civilians just call the dashboard. Let'* leave that alone for now.

The Lamp Control Module, which is the suspect box at the moment from what I read here, is behind the left-hand side of the I/P above the fuse block. In actual fact, the swing-down frame that holds the fuse block under the dash is _attached_ to the bracket that holds the Lamp Control Module. If you swing down the fuse block by squeezing together the two release tabs above it, look up to see what the release tabs are attached to. They're on the end of a large bracket that holds the Lamp Control Module on its underside. Two separate connectors plug into the side of it: C1 is the forward connector (closest to the front of the car); C2 is the rear connector (closest to the driver).

If you're looking to test a white wire on this circuit (haven't found the right wiring diagram yet but I'm going by what was written here), C2 shows a white wire in the third position from the top (view the connector end-on with the locking tab to your left).

Actually I'm going to fall asleep trying to read wiring diagrams right now and you say you've got the manual anyway, so at least you should now be able to find the components... have fun...

The lamp control module sends 1 12V output to the lamp monitor for the tail lamps. The lamp monitor has three tail lamp outputs, 1 for the trunk lamps, 1 for the outside body lamps, and 1 for the marker and license lamps.

This means the short must be in the lamp monitor, or between the lamp monitor and the trunk-mounted tail lamps.

I finally pulled my manual out and read it too and it says that I need to test Pin E on connector C1. I will be running continuity on Pin E and if that tests out, than I will be getting a new module. Thanks anyways.
