Default Trunk release

So I thought I was loosing it. I back my 1997 SE out of the driveway and the trunk is open. I swear I shut it.
More often then not when I shift from park to rev or drive the trunk opens. It seems to be related to the door locks engaging. I have disabled the trunk release switch in the trunk and just use the remote control.

Anyone else ever see this??

It seems to happend to me intermitantly... 3 times so far.. and have seen it happen to another bonnie when I took Muffin to Niagara Falls.. buddy had their bonnie parked with the trunk lid ajared open ( like you just pressed the trunk release ). I don't knowif it'* from accidently pressing the trunk release on the remote by accident while walkin away or some outside frequency makin it pop open ( someone elses remote? ) as it happened at the same place where I saw the other Bonnie had his trunkopen.. since I parked 5 cars away from him.. humm.... never thought of it as a big deal.. and more user error.. but now you got me interested in it too.

Default trunk release

Thanks for the reply Drifter. I am not that worried about the trunk release it'* just an oddity that I was curious about.
Speaking of trunks, I think I am ready to hack mine this weekend and add the Neon Letters. I can't decide if I am going to go with a Dremel tool, roto zip or copeing saw. I will see how it goes. I am concerned about cutting into wrong areas. I read the post about it so I think I am ready.

Don't worry Alien. It'* a common thing with the 98'*. Mine comes and goes. I just use the remote. I'll look through the SI ROM and try to find a bulletin on this. Maybe there is a dealership free fix for it.

It'* pretty straight forward and easy.. just take your time.. it'* better to undercut and having to make multiplie passes to smooth it out and all then to overcut and having it look screwed up. Take some pics of it...I'd like to see another fellow bonnie with a lit up Pontiac emblem.. ( If the lit up H and A for Honda/ Acura get RP.. what would we get ? hee hee ). I personally used a Dremel cause I"m use to it and is most comfortable with it. Before you actually start cuttin... stare at it long enough and vision in your head which tools would work better for you and which one feels the most comfortable for you to use. Good Luck

Complinitor... humm.... I never thought of that maybe there'* a recall or something for that... way to go Sherlock

It could be that the mechinism inside the butten is sticking. The same thing started happening to mine when it was cold outside. I know it'* not good for it, but i just gave the pannel were the butten is a couple of shots with my fist. aka. pissed off the truck kept opening. and it stayed shut. If anyone has any ideas how to really fix it i'd like to know thanks.
