:?: i got rid of my 93 bonneville ssei,,,,, and got a 1999 pontiac grand prix gt with the grand prix i am having tranny problems it is the 3.8L non supercharged it has 245,000miles all orignal from 1 owner ,
THE PROBLEM-
it shifts from 1st-2nd fine at like 25mph ,and from 2nd to third it wont shift ,it goes stright in to 4th ,and then o/d fine , i had it tested and it says 3rd gear isnt engageing
so i am trying to figure out what it could be it seems like it trys u can feel a buck
it shifts from 2nd in to forth right at 45mph and wont shift untill you hit that speed.
THINGS I DID-
i had the tranny filter and fluid changed no shavings and it wasnt that bad
and i got a code po717 and po716 speed sensor but this just started .
SO ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED CAUSE I REALLY WANNA FIGURE OUT IF MAYBE ITS JUST A SENSOR.thanks for replys!

o and were is the speed senor turbine thing located in the tranny?

i'm not the best here but like P0716-P0717 tell, it seem like to be the sensor low or no signal on it

The VSS is in the differential housing on the passenger side of the trans.

ok thanks , but do you think that is the reason why 3rd isnt there? cause no check engine light was on before and 3rd wasnt there.

VSS is part of the equation for getting the car in the correct gear.
