Seems a bit high, actually pretty steep. I would ask a few shops for a quote and compare, figure $90/hr for dealership x 3.5, hell 4.5 to be generous (book calls for 3.5 though) thats 405, $55.02 for switch, thats $460, $20 for filter, $20 for tranny fluid. Thats only $500, and Im estimating on the high side.

Yeah i called 2 others.

1 quoted exact same price as dealer, right down to the penny. Smells fishy

2nd was around $200 but I had 2 people tell me to avoid them.
I'll call others and see.

Thanks everyone for all the help

You should ask if they are replacing the case side cover also, because they have service bulletins on the side cover for the 4T65-E and they might be replacing it seens it coming off anyways...

got SB # for that?

is it this: 99-07-30-025 NOV 99 A/T - Revised Case Side Cover Replacement.

and what is this one:

00-07-30-002B JUL 02 A/T - 4T65E Harsh Shifts/Shudders/Slips/DTC'* Set

I don't know which model tranny I have, and my gf has it at work right now.

I actually asked the dealer if it was normal for transmission components to start failing at 54k miles and he said no, i also asked if there were any bulletins or recalls or anything related to this tranny and he said not to my knowledge...

The bulletin about the side cover is just a revised procedure for the manual and a change in labor times, nothing mechanical.

awesome!

Question, is that something the dealer would cover or is just a tech note for mechanics.

Thanks, I owe you!
