Default Transmission: Looking for New Trans... What do I need?

1994 Bonneville SSEi (Supercharged)

Hey Guys, I knew when I bought the car that I would eventually have problems with the transmission. Now that the time is here, I need help getting what I need.

SYMPTOMS:
-Shudder on take off
-Gear noise/grind through first gear
-Some slipping in other gears (especially at full throttle)

Could any of these problems be associated with my torque converter?
The trans has 176,000 miles on it and I am guessing that it is my main problem, I can swap the tranny myself but need to know where I can get one for cheap. I am also wondering if i have to buy the HD transmission or if the regular 4T60E would do me justice. I am still in college and don't want to spend a lot of money. I love this car and I know that it has a lot of potential for modifications and upgrades. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!! :(

what car do you have? it would help alot if you put your year/trim in your signature

now, have you considered rebuilding?

It would be fine if I felt confident enough to do the rebuild by myself. I got a estimate on a rebuild for around 1200. (I bought the car for 1100). I really just want to swap the transmission, as of right now it could be my cheapest route, since I would do the labor myself.
