Default Transmission differences?

So while we were disecting my car'* suspension, Damemorder noticed something peculiar. My 93 N/A'* halfshafts are about 2x as thich as his 93 N/A. His brother also commented it shifted much much harder. His car was built in late 92, mine was built in June 93. Any reason for this?

I've never heard of any of us having different half shafts. Were his maybe solid and yours hollow?

I'm thinking mine are crappy replacements, And I can make mine shift as hard as yours if I floor it at a few hundred RPM'* below the shift point.
