Default Trans Compatibility?

Will a trans from a 96 SSEi go into a 95 SSEi??? What would all have to change?

The tranny in the '96 is should be a 4T65e-HD. I don't believe it'* a 4T60e carryover. If it is, someone please correct me. The 4T65 will not work with the 4T60'* computer or connectors. (If '96 was the first year for the 4T65,) I wouldn't reccommend swapping it in unless the Series II L67 was going along with it.

96 was the last year for the 4T60 in the Bonneville. Not a 4T65. There are differences.....92/93 are the same, 94/95 the same. Not sure about 96. As stated above, go by the trans code itself.

Yes, this is always an odd topic.... I forget what the wiring diagrams looked like for the 95-97 4T60-E.... There are diffrences.... In most cases I think the connector would have to be reworked or changed...

I agree I would try and go with the tranny tag...

The SSEi'*( 3800 SC ) used the 4T60-E through 96... 97 on 3800SC had the 4T65-E...

In the 3800NA the 4T60-E ran through 97...

In some other models the 60-E ran through 98...

It has to be something else... The 94-95'* have the same PCM...

I'm wondering about the wiring harness and the pigtail... It seems through the years that the pinouts changed...

I need a rebuild manual for the 4T60-E

Would it have something to do with the modulators?
