Drop your trans pan, check for debris or peices of hard surfacing (aka Gears) in your pan or stuck to your magnent..sounds like a First gear Clutch/drum failure of some sort, tecnically, at cold, the fluid is more viscious, there for, it under more pressure and that cold pressureized fluid may be enough to engage the clutches to the metal plates in 1st gear.....A check valve could be hung up in the valve body as well. causing a fluid leak, the car shifts into gear when the fluid VENTS from the drum down through the valve body..if a valve is stuck, this might not happen..

I'm gonna go with the idea you heated the trans up pretty good.
Seeing how I overheated the trans in my pick up a few times and it did the EXACT samething, and after you let it sit and cool for a while, everythings good.

To be an SE and get the trans that Hot.....
were you hard on the car at all? Sounds like the car entered Limp Home mode... Keep in mind that the PCM in the 94-95 Does monitor Transmission temps and will go into limp home to save its self

Knowing Eric im pretty sure he drove it hard....
Eric, how many miles on the tranny?
Also I reccomend AGAINST doing a transmission flush. Read more here. If you need help dropping the pan I can come over to help you and while were at it we can add a bottle of Lucas for insurance.
Be easy on the car when you drive it from now on. Yes its a 4t60 and will hold well, but drive it like crazy all of the time will shorten its life.
