i had mine rebuilt about 8 monthes ago. it cost around 1100 not including removal/installation (we did that ourselves). I couldn't get into 4th gear, which I think was something with the torque converter???

That'* really high for labor. You can get the TC for 140 bucks and replace it yourself. His is SHOT. All he has is 1st and 2nd gear, and they don't do much good with a bad TC. Those 2 gears will go very quickly with all the nasties in his fluid now. Got a quote from a local supplier for a remanufactured trans including the TC and everything else needed, 12 month warranty.....$1300.

Anybody know any good online sources for rebuilt/remanufactured/used 4T60'*? It would help him alot. We're talking budget mode here.

Don't think a new PCM would be feasible. That'* what it would require. Need to stick to the 4T60E or the HD.
