timing chain slop specs..
1993 SE, can't find it in the GM service manual. This surprises me, there'* got to be a tolerance.. Does anyone know the tolerance? Mike

There really isn't one. The tensioner should be capable of taking up any normal or reasonable amount of slop.
I suggest if you have it open, that you change the chain, and only the sprockets if they show significant wear.

okay
The tensioner shows very little wear, I was surprised about that. Slop seams normal to me, gears look new.. New chain is cheap, already have it, thought I could put it together and then check the slop, make a more scientific determination on the sprokets.. But, it seems as though I'm good to go!! Thanks Wren... Mike
