Are the FE2 springs variable rate? I think that is what Olds used on the Touring Sedan.
Wonder what they would cost new from the dealer. Bet I wouldn't sleep for a week after I found that out...

only the rear springs are a progressive rate coil....

no idea on the price but there are 4-5 different stiffness rates for FE2.....so you could get a FE2 that was close to a FE1 or one that is close to F41...keep this in mind

you want to grab 4 springs from the same car....swaybars are the same for ALL FE2 and F41.....

suspensions are a tricky subjuect when you get into the different combos that were offered on the H and C bodies

Hmm
Any good suggestions where to find a set? Did GM even quote spring rates for any of them?

Junk yard is your best bet. Save money and they're still good. You can get them from any H or C body with FE2 or F41. As for different variations in stiffness for the SPRINGS, pat would have to chime in to know what cars have what stiffness.

Junkyards are the best bet for the springs...the only way to know is the tag that is listed on the spring....the only problem with this is that the little tag is usually gone, and then there is NO way to know the EXACT spring stiffness

thanks Don....i was wating for you to jump in this topic

BigEric the Moog/TRW springs are available at Advance, we recently learned this from a Advance employee that has them on the rear of his Bonneville....they are almost like the F41 coil thickness...and the ride was pretty good

but you will WANT to get the FE2 bars when you do the stiffer springs

Thanks to you both!
That is damn encouraging! I used to work for Advance and still have some friends there. Anyone have a clue about the part number or what it is supposed to fit?
This is an awesome site.
Looking forward to having the worlds best handling 98....

No mic on hand right here, but I will see what I can arrange.
Yup, it is a 95 Olds 98 Series II, meaning fully loaded, except for the fact that they special ordered cloth (?????) as leather was standard, and it has the analog dash, which should not have been available on it. Go figure!
