thermostat question

Default thermostat question

i am going to change my thermostat...i got a 205 in there now i think....thats waht napa said to put in there....what one should i get...i see one on adtr thats 180 degrees....should i get one lower than that like a 160 or something....hows it going to do in minnesota weather in the winter? thanks

Stock is 195 (but will usually read a bit above that). I would go with the 180. The 160 will be too cool for your car. The 160 is more for heavily modded cars and track races. The 160 might throw SES lights as well for normal driving. 180 is what I use in the MN weather and it does just fine.

PS: Most shops (not all) will tell you to replace parts with factory equivelant parts. They may not know what else will work and don't want to be responsible for something going wrong. Just an extra .02

so a 180 will work...should i get the jet one? or just go to napa?

A 180 ia a 180. Some will claim one is better than the next....well maybe. But they all do the same thing at the same temp in the end. Wherever it is easiest and cheapest is where I'd go.

for thermostats ive always found any old one works for me. goto your local parts store and get one.
