The chances of the lifter wearing out the cam lobe is very small, unless the roller seized up.

Check your harmonic balancer. If that'* messed up you will get vibrations. There'* a rubber area between the inside and outside, if that rubber goes bad it will vibrate.

I'll take a look at that. I think the chances of the roller seizing up are very small. After all, the hydraulic lifters are designed in such a way so that they provide oil to the rollers. I can't imagine why in the world they would seize up.

I still need to explain the noise that'* coming out of my engine while revving above 2000 rpm though. I think I'll replace the lifters and then go from there.

One thing I have seen with roller lifters (in 2.5 GM eng) is that the lifter can get turned

sideways, and the roller wont spin anymore, but will eat the cam lobe. Not sure about

a 3800 doing that.

IIRC, 3800'* have lifter guides that prevent them from being installed any other way or from turning on their own.

So do 2.5 eng, and they are metal as opposed to plastic ones in 3800 eng.

Well I sure hope that'* not the case, and if it is, I have a feeling I might have bigger problems than just a worn cam lobe.

I just found this.

The lifters are slotted on two sides.

There'* no way they could have turned without breaking the guides. The guides were intact.

I think if I had spun a rod bearing, I would know it. This has been going on for 15-20k miles. Either way, I'll get a video up so you guys can hear it.

A spun bearing would be much lower on the engine. And you will know it.
