I think you've found at least part of the problem.

And the other part was that the spring was missing as well.

Thanks Ron again for that part number it came with the 2 O-rings, the spring and a metal PCV, and a new plastic top you mentioned.

So now it'* back together and no more vacuum in the crankcase and all is well. I still would like to know where the inlet to the crankcase is that allows fresh air into the system.

Thanks for everyones help

Thanks J57ltr

Good to know that part # 89017274 is still good.

My Regal did not have a spring on top of the PCV valve but since a spring was in the kit I used it.

Could it be that the spring is only used with the improved plastic top? I wondered this because it almost looked like if the spring wasn't there that the PCV could be drawn up enough to unseat the PCV and cause it to leak again. I didn't test this theory I just put everything together and installed it and started it up to make sure everything was right this time.

The Plastic top that was on the intake manifold was identical to the one in the kit. The previous owner said that when he replaced the PCV during a tune up a year or so ago that the MAP was mounted in the same place only the tabs that are on either side wern't there on the old manifold before the UIM grenaded. (if that makes any sense)
