spark plug question (93 SE)
I'm out working on my car trying to figure out why it sounds like it has a misfire, idles rough, and gets horrible mpg. I've got the coils off about to be tested when i find my multimeter. Just for the heck of it, I pulled the plug out of the cylinder that is farthest to the right in the back, and it has gone from a gap of .060 to .082 in just over 20,000 miles. There is hardly any tip left on the spark plug. Pics are coming in a minute. Does this mean i need new plugs?
i made a mistake...my gauge is old and hard to read. they are still off gapped, but not that bad. going to recheck now. (and remember my kr vs ks post) where I had 4* of KS...
Yes you need new plugs.
Does it look like normal wear and not pre-ignition or detonation?
20000 mile would be good on copper but I'd expect at least double on platinums.
Stay away from Bosch +2 and +4 plugs, They do not work well in our type of spark system (Waste spark) and will die in short time.

ok...spark plugs not as bad as i first thought. I made a newbie mistake on the measuring combined with a hard to read guage and completely mis-added the total. I have autolite 605 platinums, and i know to stay away from bosch. thanks guys
