Default Sounds like a sewing machine after 100kms/h ( 60mph )

1995 L36 in an olds..

242 000kms

When I hit 100km/h , I start to hear what sounds like a sewing machine noise.
The sound is ONLY audible when I am pressing the gas.

The engine feels a little sluggish after 100kms/h ( it used to pull a lot better - even with 220000kms on her ) - anyone else heard of this problem? Like I said - it'* only when I am pushing the gas - so it should have something to do with my engine..[/i]

It might be ping. When was the last tune up? Is the Cehck engine/Service engine soon Light on?

Try different gas, look for vacuum leaks, make sure no plug wires are touching the o2 sensor or wires, Check for corrision on thebattery cables and under the boots.

howdy

This is gonna sound funny - but when I replaced my tires today ( BF Goodrich Traction TA'* Vrated ) the sound went away. What I find confusing is WHY the sound was associated to the acceleration ( gas pedal )

who knows - but the noise is gone, which is very relieving!

The reason behind why the noise was hooked to the gas pedal was because the tires were moving faster.

Next time something like this happened... try giving it a little throttle when you aren't moving and listen for the noise. If there is none..then it'* drivetrain or tire related.
