This is a VATS system problem.

Situation (more annoying than anything):

Get into the car and try to start. Nothing. Lights and everything work. Security light stays on. Pull key out and get out of car re-lock. Wait 2 minutes..... Do again and starts. Like nothing wrong. This only happens once every few months....Usually when I am late for something. Anyone else had this problem?

Have your keys gone through the wash? Been in the pool or ocean?

Look closely at the resistor pellet on the key. Still look OK?

Spray WD40 on pellet, insert key & remove a few times. Wipe off.

Both my key and the wife'* key do it. No rhyme nor reason. If it would do it consistently it would be much easier. The pellets are in good shape though.

Ya, could be a problem with the pellet. I know if it senses a probem with the key the power to the car will shut off and it won't start for a couple minutes.

I can see that being a real PITA when you are usually running late when it happens. Good luck.

EDIT: Ok the pellets look fine...me don't know then If the pellet is a little wet at the time it could also not start (I think my manual says that)

I think you guys are right... The keys are original (12 years). If it starts getting worse they will be replace. THXS

When thet happens step on the brake, push the shifter around then back to park and try to start. Sometimes mine does that and thats the trick.

Yup. The park/neutral safety switch would be the other most likely culprit. Good call, Bass.

Clean and tighten your battery posts. They sometimes work loose, and with the stack of cables at the positive terminal it doesn't take much. Also make sure they stack straight and proper.
