My electrical issues brought me to this. When inspecting the grounding buss, my research got a little carried away.

I pulled out the entire interior (minus dash) and found standing water and padding that was nothing more than a drenched sponge.

Here are pics of what I found....

At least one of the Bonnies is water tight!


Next weekend I'm going to steam clean the carpet. It'* salvagable.

I will install new pad. Probably something that'* designed for a basement (vapor barrier). That won't come until I resolve all these leaks.

And, for what it'* worth, I POURED water out of the passenger side grounding buss. All other electrical connections looked great.

weatherstriping/door seal...i suggest redooing all the doors...or atleast the ones that are loose:


and check under the car and see if the pulgs are still in


before winter break i found a puddle in the back of my bonnie...apparently it had been there for a while and my friends never told me when i gve them a ride to school...i had caught it when Warren (his 3rd time with me) needed a ride to the movies with us and he said hey your floor is wet back here...sure enough there was a pool....the leak was the weatherstriping on each door...mainly the rear doors....i took that all off and restuck it back around the doors....and it stoped.....i just suggested the plugs under the car cuz thats how my ranger was leaking...though i can't recall if the bonneville had plugs underneath...

My suggestion is to redo ALL the door seals. Water test it also, make sure you find/fix all the leaks before you put it back together.

Yes, I'm going to the junk yard tomorrow AM to get a 2 foot chunk of weather stripping. I had to go through this same process already with the 99.

Properly fit the existing to the rails. Then, left the gap at the bottom. Fill the gap with a chunk of weatherstripping from the junk yard. 99 has been water tight ever since.

There has to be more to this water! I have to find Don'* thread....

don't Bonnies have a common place back there that rusts on the passenger side?



seems like I remember that causing a couple peoples airbags to deploy for no reason...good thing you caught it: )

I don't know of a common rust problem on the passenger side....other than above the rear wheels, on the fender.

I'm going to re-seal each door and RTV the area around the hood hinges. From what I learned in Don'* thread, that was the biggest and final culprit. I'm also going to remove the headliner and make sure the drain tubes are connected. Will blow them out, too.

The old '93 had the rust in the top of the rear wheel well that did a great job of getting the back seat and floor wet. Good luck with your project.

Re seal all the doors, check all the windows front and back, check your sunroof drains to, that was a common problem..
I belive jrs3800 found a good leak in his 95 right dead centre back of the dash, were the trans hump WOULD be, was coming in there pretty good..not to sure were from though..

my next thought was gona be check the windows...but SSEimatt beat me to it



and the weather striping could be it, but that does seem like alot of water to just be that....idk

92 and 93 Bonnevilles have a typical leak at the back window bottom edge. Water leaks in between the bottom edge of the glass and the rubber seal. A very light bead of clear or black silicone caulking will cure that leak location quickly. That was the only leak on my 93 ever.

Power antenna is also possible, particularly if your spare tire well is full. Tails can also cause the full trunk effect.
