My suggestion would be start simple, check the fluid according to the owners manual. While looking/filling look closely for any metal fragments on the dipstick.

Then aim to find consistency. Consistency helps determine exactly what the problem is.
Has it done it since or was this an isolated incident?
Does it do it always on corners? If so which way or both ways?
Do you beat it/have you beaten it? (Just helps to understand what to expect)
Have you had a fluid and filter change lately/ever?
What are the miles on the car or tranny?

My mom'* trans has had kinda the same problem. When accelerating, it goes above the normal revs to shift and then shifts hard. It developed suddenly after a couple hours of looking for a car for me. The fluid shows as over an inch above max fill. It have about 70K miles on it, and it has never had a refill/filter, unless uncle ben'* does them. Please point me in a direction.

In the future..if you are looking around and see stuff about a month or so old, start up a fresh thread and list your problem. This way you can get better exposure and answers.

Uncle Ben'*???? I thought they only made rice.

I'd start with the standard automatic transmission service. Should include dropping the transmission pan, changing the filter and refilling. Possilbly add some Lucas trans conditioner.

Check for codes. When a trans controller puts the trans into limp home mode it will usually command the line pressure to max inorder to TRY to stop any further damage.

At full line pressure a transmission will shift very hard. If limp home mode has been activated, there will be a trouble code set.

A vacuum leak at the modulator will also cause harsh shifts. Store that in memory for a later date.
