She's goig back "Under the knife"..
Well, by tomorrow night, Tuesday at the latest, I'll have a new engine in my car. She threw a rod last night. Got the final diagnosis this afternoon. Even got to see the rod...
According to the mechaninc, when the dealership in Sioux Falls replaced my upper and lower intakes, they lit it sit too long, and the antifreeze ate the internals. So, just about $2500 in parts and labour gets me a new engine sith a 12 month warranty..... They say "Lifes hard, then you get a puppy"... Where's my puppy? I been through the hard part, I deserve my puppy.... |

Sorry to hear that MOS. It's a reman engine?
|
this is tough to here....but you now can put the L67 in there now
|
Oh, goody. It just got better [/sarcasm] When she blew, she did it right. Took out the tranny, too. Apparently, when she went, she threw her guts through the tranny case and diff....
They called and talked to the Missus, so I didn't get the gorey details, but the cost just went up a grand. We talked, I did some searching online, and we're keepin' Leroy. Still owe to much on the car, and are in too much of a bind, to go shopping right now and find something I'd be willing to drive. Getting a new engine, and tranny..... Not a happy camper, tho. Dang, I wish I coulda talked 'em into changing her into an SC SE for me. Oh well, bright side is it's only money. We'll find it somewhere. Noone was hurt, except in the wallet. And I still have my beloved Bonne. Although, with all the big reapirs lately, it's working moving from "Beloved" to "Beliked" ot "Be-lucky I don't take a torch to yer ass..." |
Sorry to hear about the bad news.
Can you some how go after the shop that did the upper intake for you, do they know the engine failed? |

Labor is pricey, but they are very honest. And when they fix it, it stays fixed) says we "don't have a case. They did the reapir correctly, but probably not quick enough to prevent damage from the hydrolock". Couldn't hurt to call, tho. Worst they can do is say no.... |
thanks pat for speaking too soon on the L67. lok what you done...j/k
|
Damn John... Sorry to hear it bud...
Thats the most important thing when something like this happens to the 3800 K engine... If its hydrolocked, get the coolant out of all the cylinders, and drain the oil, let all of the contaminents out of the crankcase before any damage can be done... I'm sorry to hear it man... Let us know what the final tally is... __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |

: John, if you are intrerested in the motor my cousin can pull it out for like $200. If you cover that fee the motor is yours -only thing is I haven't heard the motor run so it's a kindy iffie deal for you. :| |
The shop is doing it all as we "speak". Supposed to be done tonight. Tomorrow at the latest.
Unfortuantely, The Missus and I both have to get to work, so I didn't have time to play around. Had to get it fixed and mobile again.... |
Well, I actually got her back on Tuesday afternoon. Total bill was 4 grand
Expensive, yes, but we really trust this shop. But the silver lining, and I had to really struggle to find it, is - I still got my Bonne I got a new engine cover I now have a better warranty on my engine and transmission than when I bought the car. MN lemon law is only 30 or 60 days, the new engine and tranny came with a one year P&L warranty I got a coolant flush I got a transmission flush I would include the oil change, too, but I had just done one the night before she goed "boom".... Sometimes you gotta fight to find the positive..... |
