So, after replacing my EGR with a new one and new gasket, everything seemed to be fine. So after drving around for a few, I got a new code. And this is what I got from my scan tool

P0171 Fuel Trim too Lean (Bank 1)

So, Im getting to much air now? I just filled up with 94 octane (according to the gas station )

Give it time to settle, or clear the code and see if it comes back. Toss the scantool in the car, and we can brave the cold to check it tomorrow night.

So, after reading some old posts with the same code thrown, I have come to realize it could be anything really. This has just started once I put my new EGR valve in, so I am getting better airflow most likely. I might try putting my maf screen back in and see what that does, since maybe the maf sensor is being tricked.

Well, I put the maf screen back in, no more code for fuel trim too lean (think it was a bad tank of gas) but I still got the error code for bad EGR. Do I need my tubes replaced as well, or is this a sign my upper intake is going? Im runnig easily within normal operating temperatures. Im just a little confused

That MAF "screen" is not a screen. It is an airflow straightener. It is there to provide the proper airflow across the MAF sensor. Your problem was self inflicted by removing it. It is not a restriction to airflow, so you will not accomplish anything in the way of power gain by removing it if that was your intention. Your MAF sensor was infact getting a false reading without it. Your problem should be solved if you reinstalled it.
