SES code P1640?
Has anyone else seen this code and sucessfully fixed the problem? The code is for a QMD failure or something related to the ground circuit. The only clue i have is that when i switched out my battery last time, i think the connector for the ground might have worn down the lead, so now it'* not a tight connection. Is there anything i could use as a conductive "spacer" between the battery and the negative cable?
Thanks! -Brian
PS. i have had the light going off every day for the past month, even after having the codes cleared twice in that time. Yesterday i cleared the codes again and the light came on after about 5 minutes of driving- P1640 is the only code showing up though.
Thanks! -Brian

IIRC that'* the QDM 2 failure. IF...that is the correct one.. it should encompass the boost soleniod, TC clutch and evap purge soleniod.
On a previous 95..I was plagued with the light as you are. The torque converter clutch is easy to test. Drive over 50 and watching rpm'* tap the brake pedal lightly..do the rpm'* come up 2-500? Ok..TCC works.
Evap purge is easy to test..let the car warm up..and run for a couple minutes. Hold a finger on the purge soleniod on top of the canister..does it vibrate sooner or later? Ok..that tests good.
BCS... it works fine every time you press the pedal you go into boost right? On a whim..I swapped mine and the light disappeared.
Your issue is probably one of the above three items. the bsc and evap sol are easy enough to swap for testing. If you need either reasonably priced..holler at me. I should still have spares.

Thanks Bill! I'll try those today. Where is the purge soleniod? How much for those parts? Easy to replace?

The purge solenoid..mmm I'm not 100% being you have a 94 and the washer tank is over the charcoal canister. In 94..it was on the canister top. Easy enough to disconnect the electrical wire and try on a different soleniod.
The BCS..is on the front of the supercharger.
Cost..I'm unsure new on the soleniod..BCS is ~30-40 I think.
If I've got them both and you want to give it a try.. Say $15 shipped

Problem here is the dealers don't like to deal with anything on a supercharger- they would rather take it off and send it to eaton or whereever.....i don't have that type of time. Thanks, -Brian
