okay well i was working on my car installed a new thrmostat n some other things. and i noticed that i had a wire unplugged. so after i drained osme coolent so access the thermostat i filled up the antifreeze and then plugged the wire into the pllugin(sensor) and all the sudden low coolant poped up on my comp screen. I though maybe it was a air pocket in the line so i let it run for a while...still low coolant i checked to see if the bubble popped and nope. i unplugged the wire again and thent he low coolant went off hte screen. I deem this to be a bad sensor and would like to replace it. could you tell me the part number or help me locating a sensor that will work for this? It is located on the back of the rad (if you standing looking at the car) half way down the rad.


also on a quick note...where the hell is the drain forhte rad i looked everywhere n couldnt see it. and there was a stupid casing all around it as well. so i finally reverted to jsut spilling coolant for the thrmo change.

I'm digging through my magic book, with no luck so far. Call the dealer and ask them for the 8 digit part number and run it through www.gmpartsdirect.com or just go to the local auto parts store. I don't think it'll be much.

That should do it! Some dealers may not give you the part number. Remember other GM dealers can cross reference Pontiac parts, so if you meet a crappy one who doesn't want to give you the number, call a chevy or olds or even buick dealer. I still bet a discount auto parts store would be best on that part though. Let us know how it goes.

Autozone'* whole game is to go as cheap as they can. Whichever vendor comes in lowest gets carried, even if they're crap. 95% of the people out there either don't know any better or don't care.

looks like whoever owned the car before you unplugged it because it was faulty

if you are standing at the front of the car it is on the right side on the very bottom. you need a flashlight to see it. you might need plyers to get it open if it hasn't been open in a long time. good luck.

ahh i went out side n looked. it took a bit but i found it. Im heading off to the parts store tomorrow for the sensor. Hopefully its cheap
