Can't say as I have ever heard of the cylinder being replaced.

Does anybody ever replace the lock cylinder and feed the wire back down the column like it was made? I know it takes dissembling most of the column because I've done it.

You could, but they are more expensive than resistors and sounds like more work!

Yes it is more work but some purest like to keep their stuff factory and it is a working theft deterrent. Some idiot tried stealing my pick up a few years back and if he knew how to bust the column properly he would of made off with it but lucky he was dumb and the turn signal wiring, high beam rod and the Ign switch rod got twisted up and he couldn't steer it. They did break my rear wing window and made off with the stereo and left it sitting there idling all nigh as well as about 5 other peoples stereos that lived in the apt complex I was living in.

good video. thanks for the help. only wish i would have looked at it and read the advice closer. i cut one white wire & soldered the resistors in. in other words i didn't bypass the key. it is working though. thanks again!

so cut the other wire and cut one side of the resistor (key side) and solder it together so the key side is not connected. right now you have it in series which means the key is additive to the resistor you soldered in. so say your key was 100 ohms now the tdm sees 200. im not sure how it even works. also you didnt bypass the problem which is normally in the column.

Yes, I saw the error of my ways..I cut/ soldered & now the light is out. Thanks again. Now I need to start a thread for another issue.
