Okay, today it went one step further on me, after a short hwy run ( no faster than 70) i noticed i can feel its downshifts, then when i come to a stop sign when the car hits about 5mph it downshifts quickly into 1st. The up shifts can be felt very well no matter how hard or easy I accelerate. My ATF is still bright red and it has been regulary serviced, but it is at 153,700 miles...
Any insight?

Good timing for you. Mine is starting to do the same (hard upshifts into 2nd and 3rd, even after last week'* flush).

Don'* 95 does too, and has for a year. Does this mean we're good for now? No telling.

The most likely culprits are the shift accumulators or the modulator. Pray for the modulator. I'm going to try to swap Jseabert'* onto my trans for troubleshooting.

You and I are going to be pals for the next couple months while we figger this out

I'm going to HOPEFULLY try the modulator this weekend. I'll keep you posted. Have you had the chance to get a scantool on the car while you're driving yet? I'm doing that this weekend too. To compare when the PCM requests the shift, and when it actually happens. If it'* the same time, but still harsh, I'm going to bet modulator. If it'* a delayed harsh shift, it'll probably be accumulators.

I might be off base here, so someone correct me if this doesn't make sense.

makes perfect sense to me, now i need to take mine on a roadtest with the schools SnapOn Scan tool. If i get the chance next week, im gunna jump on it like flies on ****!

Update: only shifts rough when its compleatly warmed up..

MIne is the opposite. It'* worse when it'* cold, but when the trans temp reaches 190°F (normal), it smooths out.

well tonight i notice it kinda does it when its cooler, im guessing it has something to do with fluid viscosity as well..maybe?

Could be the acuating valves, usually a good flush can clean up the actuating valves and the valve body but some times it doesnt. I would recommend a good transmission flush, not just drain. Then after that use an additive like slick 50 which will help clean up the valves and body.
