Default Rough Idle

My 97 has a little bit of a rough idle, usually when its cold/warming up. Anyone have ideas to what it could be?

Lets start simple. How old are your plug wires? They may need replacement.

Try cleaning your throttle body. That did wonders for me.

I gained a rough idle after I put in my K&N. I have new O2, plugs, wires, and I use injector cleaner often. I always use 89 or higher gas too. Can't get rid of it. So I am just leaving it rough idle and learning to live with it.

I'd buy the throttle body. I had the same problem at 75k miles. That did the trick for me. But to get it REALLY clean, you need to remove it.

You bought a new TB or you cleaned it?

No i bet he meant clean it. It takes about an hour to take it off, clean it, and put it back on. Fun task for a shadetree mechanic like me. Once i got the TB out, i removed all the electrical stuff--TPS, MAF sensor, Idle control valve, and put it in a bucket of gas and just scrubbed till it shone like new.

I'll put it on my list of things to do this summer.
