Were you low a gallon of coolant and a quart of oil before? Was the oil on the plug end or on the outside? The valve cover gasket wouldn't put oil on the plug end in the cylinder. When was the last time you checked your coolant level before you added the gallon?

My thoughts could be leaky LIM gaskets, but that wouldn't cause the no-start condition. I think the crank sensor would set a code. Can you get it scanned?

Yeah, I was low on the oil and coolant when we pulled over to check. I don't think it had been checked since I got it (March), it was one of those things I kept meaning to do, and now I'm paying for it... :o)

The oil was on the plug end by the tip inside the cylinder, not the outside. So, you're right I guess it wouldn't be the valve gaskets.

Also, I rented a scanner from Checkers and there were no trouble codes on the car.

Sounds like you have a ruptured upper intake manifold...

When you crank the car, do you have spark? If you have spark then I'd say your plugs are dead...

If you find that you have spark, drain the oil and remove the filter, install a new filter, and 5 qts of cheapie oil... Then see if the car will start... Do not fill the system with water, if it starts make sure it builds oil pressure... Once you see the pressure come up shut the engine off... If the pressure stays at 0.. Shut the car off right away... Do not let the car run for more than a minute or so...

If everything looks ok with cold oil pressure, you'll want to R&R the lower intake Gaskets, coolant Elbow, and upper intake manifold...

Hope you didn't hurt anything...

Hey, thanks JR...

Yeah, I have spark at the end of the plug wires, I'll throw a new set of plugs in there.

Could the overall problem be anything to big to make it worth fixing? I'm just trying to make sure I'm barking up the right trees, if ya know what I mean. With a limited budget I want to try the best options first.

Thanks!
-Daniel

I am sorry willren is right about the trim level. I would try what jr's3800 says. We have to find what wrong to know how much it going to cost to fix. I can tell you the gasket don't cost that much (under $100).. I am not sure if the intake is actual cracked how much that will cost(i checked on a 94 old 88 royale that was $400but that was a year ago). But 3800 motor I know to have problems witht the intake.

Could it be that the timing is off?

When I tried starting it right after the problem happened, it would just click, and the engine would turn over just a hair. I tried 'clicking' it a whole bunch of times, and eventually got it to 'crank' normally like it was going to start.

Just another piece of the puzzle...

We have nearly 5000 Bonnevilles here, and I have yet to see a single timing issue other than a failed crank sensor or improperly installed harmonic balancer.
