Default RKE Q .... AARRGGHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is it that the problems I have are never easy to fix?!?!?!?!

Okay folks, here'* the situation .... My '93 SSEI has the RKE option, but I've never gotten it to work. When I enter the programming mode, the locks cycle like they're supposed to, but none of the remotes I have ( a total of 5 all together) trigger any response in the RKE control system when I hit the buttons on 'em. They all have new batteries, and I've cleaned the contact pads inside of them.

I got another control unit from a '93 SSE in the junkyard in case mine was bad, but when I went to put it in my car, I found that it has one white socket and one blue one, whereas the control unit in my car has one white one and two blue ones. Then, I got the RKE control unit from a '95 SSE and it is like mine, with two blue sockets and one white one ( My '93 was made late in the '93 model year, (06/93), so I'm assuming that there was a design change during the '93 model year? ), but the '95 unit acted just like my original one (enter program mode, locks cycle but don't respond to any of the remotes). So, I was wondering a couple of things...

Are there certain year ranges & body styles where the remotes and control units are compatible or incompatible? For instance, could all the remotes I have be compatible with the older model of control unit, but not with the newer one? I got three of my remotes off ebay - - two are supposedly for a '93 Bonneville, and one is supposed to be for a '94 Grand Prix, but like I said, none of them trigger any response.

Is there a cross-reference listing anywhere that would give any specific info about Remote and Control Unit part number compatibilities?

I'm lost on this one, and I'm starting to get pretty aggravated with it. I've tried to figure out and obtain what I thought what it might need, but nothing I've tried has worked so far. Maybe I'm just missing something, but if anyone has had this problem, or has any suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks in advance !!!!
