Default Rev when stopping

A few times lately, my engine has revved (to about 1500) and wanted to surge forward when I am stopping. It seems to happen when my transmission is probably shifting down to 1st gear, but I don't know why it revs. Any sensor or connection that I should check?

No warning lights at all, and this has only happened a few times. And no 1994ta, I only had my foot on the brake at the time.

Your throttle body maybe dirty, causing a sticky throttle plate.

I had the same issue on an old Ford Explorer. It ended up being the fuel pressure regulator. It was throwing a check engine light, though. Something to investigate/think about....
