Default Resetting ecu , will it help?

My dad picked up a 96 SSEi today, i took it for a test drive and it felt slower then his old 95 SSEi. My dad was saying the same thing. I don't know how thats possible. The previous owner was an older man, he is 73 now and this man took care of this car like it was his own child. It is in mint condition all around . Now, the old man NEVER beat on the car, i mean his son told me that when the SC gauge showed boost he let off and he would never even speed with the car.
So can the car be slower because it is not use to being driven hard? Will resetting the ecu and then driving it harder to get use to my style of driving? Im not sure so thats why im asking here . Thanks

Not sure if restetting the ECM will accomplish anything....But you could try that, and make sure you turn the key on for 30 secs after supplying power to the PCM again but don't start it for 30 Sec. Only thing I would pobably do is change some fluids, run some fuel system cleaner.....And drive it hard for a while. Kinda like an "Itallian Break-in" where you don't ease on it or nothing....Just start it and mash it. Could have quite a bit of carbon build up in it from not being driven hard ever.
