The electrical tape holding together my vacuum lines seems to be working, but I'm getting sick of seeing it. So, I went to Advance the other day, looked around for one of those cut-your-own vacuum line kits that I've heard about, but didn't see any. I asked the guy behind the counter, he asked what I needed, and then I just kind of stared at him cluelessly.

At the very least, I'd like to replace all of the tubing in the engine bay. I had to tape on the line heading to the fuel pressure regulator, and all of the rubber boots are cracked.

How much and what sizes should I be looking for? I'd prefer to use something that'* going to last, such as braided steel, but rubber or new plastic should be fine.

I picked mine up at autozone. I remember going to advance and they didn't have it.

I replaced all the vacuum lines on my car is flexible ones. I forget all the sizes. Pretty much all you have to do is measure the connecting points. Draw up a diagram and buy adapters. I know the TB is 3/8" and most of the sizes are 7/32" and the fuel regulator is 1/4".

I just go buy a couple feet of each size vaccum hose. Cut to length and presto you are good for another 10 years.

PS..At Advance the spools are usually back by the Commercial Accounts desk or behind the counter.
