I used to just replace the boots with no problem even if it was ripped a month.
You have to clean it out well before installing.
With the price of the whole shaft coming down so cheap its easier just to R & R it.

I may just wait until it 'fails'. Any safety reason not to?

You can never tell. Not the best way to go at it. Unless you can't afford it.

What kind of times are you guys running with modded SSEI'*? My parents have a 2000..its has lots of tq! Not much up top, but its an awesome family car. I dig it.

Thought I would add the the thread.

Boot was torn up on passenger wheel side, shop is replacing whole axle (half shaft). This is cheaper than replacing just boot. Also the linkage bushings or something or other were bad too. Having to do with the sway bar. Don't quite understand. Anyone got an idea.

The driver side boot pulled from the clamp but it'* still intact, they will just clamp it back in place.

My wife and I hit a large dip in the road weeks ago. Maybe this had something to do with it. Car bounces all over the place. Suspension maybe bottomed out. Not sure.

Probably caused the tear. I don't know for sure.

Anything could have caused the clamp to let go. The other things being replaced are called End Links..They will help with swap bar support greatly. If you are seeing a very boucy ride you may want to have the struts checked out.
