Default replacing torn CV boot

The end links in my 92 have failed, unbeknownst to me. The passenger side CV boot has been torn by the remnants of the end link.

Is there a write up or install guide for replacing CV boots?

Get Chilton'* #28200, it'* about $15, and will walk you right through it. Replace the CV joint at the same time. It must be done if the boot is torn.

I don't know about actually replacing the boots, but I do know that most parts stores have a boot repair kit (if the jonts themselves ain't shot already). Comes with a replacement, wrap-around boot, couple of clamps, and some some grease for the joints. It'* pretty easy to use, and will save you some time.

BUT!!! Make sure the joints themselves ain't already damaged. Putting new/patched boots on bad CV Joints will just waste more time and money....

If the joint is shot, I think Bill means replace the axle when he is saying replace the joint. Axle is probably around $100.

When you replace the axle..there'* no greasy mess.

2 days is too long, and you cannot see the damage. That solves the boot problem, too.

If it'* been ripped for 2 weeks, disregard my previous post. There will be damage there that you won't be able to see. It'* wat too important of a part to just "patch".....

autozone has a reman half shaft for 59.99. I'm thinking this may be just as good/easy as replacing the cv joint. how do you guys feel?
