Default replacing supercharger

Thinking of replacing the supercharger on a 93 SSEi with a completely re-manufactured unit from PSE Superchargers in Oklahoma. Mine has 180K km or 111K miles and has become noisy - and it seems to be from supercharger cone. Cannot find anyone who knows anything about these superchargers here in Calgary Alberta Canada- to decide what should be done. Plan to have dealership do the work. Pulleys and tensioners have already been replaced. How much labor time should it take to do the work which involves transferring the PCV valve from the old to the new one.

I am committed now to keeping this car - have owned it from day one.

From what you area saying you have a bad coupler. Changing it yourself would save a ton of money. Take the belt off and test it like this.

Here is a write up on doing it, your year will be a little different, but this should give you a general idea.

When you listen to the cone with a stethescope do you hear a grinding noise if it is the coupler?

Dan
2 more questions - Can the noise be created by the PCV valve - have never found in my records of GM service from day 1 that the PCV valve was replaced. Q2 - where can you get a new coupler?
Thanks for your help.

If you hear a grinding noise with a stethescope, be sure it'* a grinding noise and not normal running noise. You will hear a certain amount sound in the nose, both by the pulley and by the charger body. Charger body end will be quieter.

You can get coupler and all the snout bearings from
Rolling Performance
Intense-Racing
ZZ Performance
and probably 3800Performance

Coupler is usually heard audibly w/o steth as a knock knock type sound at idle. If the belt is removed you can feel it by hand.
