Has anyone replaced a oil sender on a SSEI? and if so could you please explain to me the best way to do it. my guage is driving me nuts so i am going to replace it this weekend. thanks. P.*. does oil come out of the oil sending unit hole when it is removed? do i have to drain my oil? thanks again.

I just did mine. Easy to do.

Pull the front passenger tire off and pull the plastic splash gaurd behind it off. You can then see the sending unit (directly above the accordian looking boot, cylinder is sitting horizontal)



You can get to it easy with a wrench. You will loose some oil out of the hole so be ready to catch it with something.

No oil came out of mine when I replaced it.

I had some oil, but not alot. Enough to make a nice spot on my driveway (not that it mattered after the lakes of oil my truck leaks ).

great, sounds easy enough, anyone happen to know if the sender is a metric wrench or a standard wrench?? and if possible what size? i hope i have a wrench that fits properly. thanks again guys!

I just used an adjustable wrench. It'* a larger size so that worked just fine.When you get the new one you can use it to size the wrench if you need to.

is it just the gauge that it messes up, or does it actually affect oil pressure?

I used channel locks on mine.

It'* just a sensor so the pressure should be fine. The gauge just reports it. But beware, if the pressire truely is low and the gauge is reporting right, you could ruin an engine.

Well i got the sensor today, 32.00 cnd. anyhow i will let you all know how it goes. what is the regular pressure supposed to be at idle, in Klps?? anyone happen to know?
