Default relay hot to touch

my trunk doesn't work ne more when u press the button on the driver door or fob. to open the trunk i have to jump where the trunk release relay is. if i put a relay in there it'* gets extreme hot to the touch and i have to wait for it to cool off to jump and open the trunk again. ne clues to direct me on what to look for or do

Have you tried a different relay? If so, you may have a short. You would need to start testing wires.

something in the load side is drawing too much current, shorted wire or the solenoid itself. try disconnecting the solenoid and put the relay in and see if it gets hot still, if it does its the wiring if it doesnt its the trunk popper.

can't see what year you have but there should be a same # relay in the panel you could swap to see if it is the relay. if not relay check wiring for short or maybe lube trunk solenoid parts

Most likely it is the solenoid that is causing the problem. As mentioned, unplug it and then check the relay.

then your problem is between those. make sure you check out the relay socket and wiring to it those are common trouble spots
