Rear Transmission Mount and Water Pump Replacement
Well I have been trying to track the origin of the coolant leak on my 94SE and I think it is the water pump. I already replaced the bypass hose and fitting but that wasn't it. If I use a small mirror and a light from the passenger side, I can see a leak from the water pump assembly bolt that sits at the 6 o'clock position. It'* about 1 drop every few seconds.
I may try to replace the water pump myself. I know I have got to remove the right side motor mount. Where does one support the oil pan and tranny with a jack in order to be able to remove this mount. If someone could do a sketch, it would be great and much appreciated as I don't want to damage anything.
One other question. When I was under the car I noticed a link type mount that secures the rear of the tranny on the right side just to the rear of the oil filter. The link is solid with a large diameter steel tube (about 2" dia.) welded at each end. The rubber bushing inside the large diameter tube that makes up the rear of the link is badly deteriorating. Front bushing in the link (link is about 8" long) looks OK. How easy is it to replace this bushing and do I need to jack up or slightly support the tranny to replace it?
I'll probably be trying to replace the water pump and bushing next weekend unless I get too nervous about removing the motor mount in which case I'll let the pros do it for a couple hundred ( i hope that'* all)
Thanks for any advice.
