Pulling the tranny to replace it this weekend and am gathering the necessary seals, filters, etc. Picked up the most of the stuff Monday but they had order the rear main seal which I picked up last night.
Anyway… opened up the box and along with the seal are two keystone shape seals that are to be soak in oil for one minute the drove into a gap by the bearing cap (someplace).
Are these for a complete rebuild?
Do I really need to install these?
How would get the old ones out?

The two keystone shaped pieces go on either side of the rear main bearing cap. If you have to remove the cap to replace the seal then you must change them, if not don't worry about them, just replace the seal. You would also have to remove the oil pan to get the rear main cap off the engine block. Best to check out a chilton'* or factory service manual if you have to remove rear main cap.
