Default reading spark plugs.

changed the plugs on the sabre today. threw in a nice set of NGK TR55 V-powers. the car likes it. it likes it alot. and no suprise because the old ones were shot.

first off they were completly gapped incorrectly. i have no idea how big. my little .99 cent round plug gapper didn't go that big! aside from that they were running hot. open the back of any haynes manual.upper right hand corner there. too hot. thats exactly what they looked like.

is it just that they were gapped like the grand canyon or is there anything else that could be contributing to this situation?

how long should i run the new ones before i can read them and see if the problem still exists. i gapped the new plugs at .060, should i possibly go smaller... larger? maybe install glow plugs and hope it desiels?

i don't know, i'm a moron, not a mechanic.

Often times the gap on a plug will open up over time so I don't think you have anything to worry about there. .060 is just right for your application.
