service engine soon light
our car is on its way to me, couldn't get it Friday. Service engine soon light comes on and off periodically. Could that just mean tune up needed? That'* according to seller.

Well, before we can get into diagnosing...we need to know submodel and year. Please put that in your signature...that way, nobody has to ask.

Ah...good.
Follow the instructions in techinfo on how to extract trouble codes from the PCM. Since you have a 93, it'* a snap to do.
That would be your starting point.

I have a 93SSEi myself, and have experienced Service Engine Soon light warnings:
Start with a tune up. The car might be trying to tell you something.
Use AC Delco plugs, and a good set of ignition wires. STAY AWAY FROM BOSCH!
Our cars don't like Bosch.
Change your oil, who knows when it was done last!
Another thing ( I know this sounds weird, but it is true! )
If I don't put my gas cap on tightly, it will throw the light. Make sure you hear at least 3 clicks, it actually tells you inside the gas door and cap too.
Oh, always run premium unleaded. The car will thank you for it.
Can't wait to see it, remember: Post some pics in Your Ride!
Cheers,
Adam
