quick question about transmission and fluid level...

What do you guys know about the level and when its too low making the tranny act up.
Ok, what I mean is if the fluid was like a quart and a half low would it make the tranny act up.

And acting up I mean when its that low and approching a highway at like 30 to 39 mph and flooring it and it revved and went to neutral instead.

So I checked the fluid and found that it was a quart and a half low so I filled it and little over hash marks and now the problem is gone.

So I guess my real question is; is this tipical?

I just wanted to know if there is a post out there that goes into fluid levels and why low tranny fluid will make it act up.....

I'm just searching for reasurrance on my tranny and that its fixed for good.

im sure that is the cause. because for pretty much every tranny problem listed in the fsm, low fluid is the first thing to check.

yeah actually it seems that is the case because mine even did that when i changed my trans fluid, i underfilled it justa bit and it was slipping and was acting wierd and sorta did a neutral thing when i floored it...mine was about 2 qts under...i filled it and it has not worried me since and that was 9 months ago...so IMO it is probably just a safety measure built in so the trand cannot be damaged or something.
