I have a 1995 SLE that recently had an engine from a 2001 Gran Prix installed to replace the blown factory engine. My son had this done and the mechanic I spoke to said the engine was the "same" but some tweaking was done.

Any ideas on what the differences could be?

The Vin on the Bonne for the original engine is follows the format below.
Vin........fuel...........years.........hp........ ..tq.......Series
K______MFI_______95-03___205_____230___II

Just curious before I make any mods. Everything from the original engine bolted back onto the new one. I know the mechanic and trust him so...

there are a few things that needed to be changed on the engine, Such as the accessory brackets, oil filter adapter, and other miscellanious items....basically the engine will be exaclty the same as the one that came out of your 95
