Default question about turn signal

I have a 1993 SSEi and on the turn signal inside the cabin it'* 'busted' on the column. I don't know how this happened really. The plastic piece that pops off, the actual turn signal/wipers/ etc is 'out of whack'. I don't really know how to explain cuz it'* not broken off, just out of where it should be, you can push it back in and it works with the exception of the blinker. I need this fixed and was wondering if anybody knew how or could give me an estimate of how much it would cost to get it fixed by a mechanic. Thanks for any input. I'll try and get a picture if nobody understands.

Are you saying the lever that sticks out is broken or the switch that is part of the steering column?

must be the lever..sorry its confusing i dont know how to explain it well..it may just need a single bolt or screw or something to get it back in but i dont have any idea i dont even know how it got broke i must have hit it on accident or something and not known it. but just estimate about what it would be to get the turn signal/wipers etc to work again considering the motors all work fine and the lever itself is in perfect shape it just needs to be reconnected, i dont think any wiring work is necessary either. thanks.

It is really hard to understand what might be wrong from your description. But, if it is a bad switch that needs to be replaced, there is a good bit of labor involved in getting down to it. You have to pull the steering wheel and go down through the column to get to it. You have to be careful 'cuz of the airbag, radio controls, and the little vats wires, but some parts houses will loan the puller, and if you have a Chilton'* 28200 and a day to spend with it, you can get it done. This is a great candidate for a junkyard part. They are not cheap new. Because it is so much work, if you cannot figure out what is wrong, it may be worth taking it to a mechanic just to get a diagnosis and an estimate. Most will do this for a little $ or for free. You don't want to tear it apart if you don't really need to. I would not be surprised if a shop would charge $200 or more to change out the switch.

Can you post some pictures to give us a better idea what is wrong?
