Well my Olds Eighty-eight has been lacking low end power....it seems like my car wants to get there quickly during acceleration but just creeps until it hits second gear. i know i have seen hints of smoke comming from the cat at times and it makes a funny noise when i rev the engine to a high RPM. but sometimes the car will pull of just fine in 1st and then sounds like it slips and gets stuck in 1st not allowing me to shift into 2nd or it seems like it slips for a second or two and then falls into 2nd gear...i don't know if the Cat is causing all of this or what. but any input would be nice. thanks guys.

Sounds like you know the cat is an issue to begin with. Maybe you should fix that and see if it helps.

If it does or doesn't, let us know. Considering it COULD cause your problem, and you KNOW there'* a problem with the cat, it'* the logical next step.
