Default Problem with new rear struts

I followed the advice of a posting shown (much) earlier and replaced my rear struts. They were leaking air and kept the compressor working extra duty. I purchased the replacements at Autozone as recommended, and installed them with no trouble. But I noticed that the things were stiff as hell, and after putting them on the car, they are still the same. The air nozzle was unobstructed and seemed to move air in and out without problem, but the thing looks like the General Lee from Dukes of Hazard jacked up in the ***. (even without airlines hooked up). I have since purchased new springs for the front for it is sagging somewhat, about an inch below spec, but the rear is just downright stiff. Any suggestions?

I might be interested in the fix for this, also. I'll be replacing my rear struts soon.
