Default A problem with my Tranny.

Hey guys I am worried. I was driving along today and my tranny didn't shift properly from 2nd to 3rd gear. The only time it shifts is when I hit 42 miles an hour and then it drops down to about 1500 rpm'* and it is fine until I drop under 37 miles an hour and then it goes into second gear I think.

It is a hesitation from 2nd to 3rd and it shifts a little hard. I am not sure what the problem is can you all give me all the possible problems with this tranny.

It is a 1999 SSEi if that helps.

That sounds like a TPS (throttle position sensor) problem to me.

Now where does this sensor go?? I do not have a factory service manual for this car unfortunately. If you could explain where it goes that would be great. Thanks

Here'* a good thread to read. Page three has a couple pictures of the sensor. The link in post 1 has a picture of the sensor on the throttle body.

Throttle Position Sensor Adjustment

Note that the above thread is talking about a TPS adjustment, not your replacement, but I wanted to get you familiar with the part.

Well I am having another problem the check engine light just came on yesterday and it seemed that when you accelerated to go it acted like it was going to stall out or shut off. I am really starting to worry about what is going on. Can you all explain what the problem might be???

Thanks

A.J.
