Ok I started on the work to change fuel pump.
Ran into a problem, I got one strap loose easily.
But on the other. I just started unloosing it
and the weld on the nut broke loose.

Ive tried with all i have to get nut held
but, seeing that the clearance between the tank and the
I guess its called the suspension for rear is only about an inch.
I've gone through different wrenches to try and hold it still, but, nothing worked
Mainly because some of the weld is on the nut, which wont let the
wrenches get enough bite on it. I cant seem to get anything bigger in that slot.

Anyone have any Ideas to help???

I've never taken the fuel tank out before so I'm not sure what kind of a fix you’re in. Hopefully someone will answer soon. The only thing I can suggest is vice grips or chiseling the nut off.

Those nuts are on clips (at least for 92 up to sometime) that are available at the nuts&bolts section of most parts stores. Cut it off if you can and a new bolt and nut clip are available. The room to hold the nut is slim, I know.

The straps that hold the fuel tank on are cheap. Most people just cut the straps off and replace them because what happened to you does happen and they are commonly rusty.

That being said, your best bet if you cant get a wrench in there is to cut the strap off and replace it with a new one.

Cant chisel it not enough room
can get wrench in there after some playing with it, but, it wont hold

thought it was welded, never thought it was a clip.
The bolt is still flush with the U- shaped brace, cant break it
I was just tring to see if someone had a better Idea to try before I cut
the strap.

You'll still have to get the bolt out to get a new strap on...

but do you gain a lot of working room when the tank is out?

there is only a inch gap between them(tank & rear suspension)

I had the clip break on the driver'* side of my SSEi when I pulled the tank.

Out came the dremel tool with a cutoff wheel (the reinforced gride type, not the little reddish brown brittle bastards), and 3 minutes later I had two halves of a bolt.

Bought new bolts, reinstalled. I used my OEM straps, but we don't use salt on the roads out West.

Make sure you wrap damp rags around every end of each fuel line before you start sparking with anything.
