I was wondering if anybody else had this same problem. I think my heat controls are acting up. Yes I do have the digital controls. It doesnt matter what tempurature I have it set at it is going to either blow out hot air or cold air. Also from time to time the temp. will start flashing both the temp outside of the car as well as the temp I am tryin to set the air at. I wouldnt have minded if it would always blow out hot air since its the winter time, But it sucks when its the winter time and you have nothing but cold air blowing out, if your lucky itll be cool air. Anybody else have this problem. This one is only about 3 years old if that. I really dont wanna dish out 240+ dollars for a new one if I dont have to. This all started happening after I disconnected the battery to change out my headlights.

The flashing temp indicates that the ECC has a trouble code. I don't recall what it takes to read the codes on a 94+ bonne though....

Off the cuff..it sounds like an air mix actuator. Little gear breaks and peeves us off.

I'm in agreement with Boosty. Sounds like a classic air mix actuator fault. The acid test is to remove the glove box, look through that little hole in the dash brace, run the ECC temp from minimum to maximum, and observe the motion (or lack of) of the air mix door arm. If the motion is not smooth, does not move consistently from one extreme to the other, or doesn't move at all, the air mix actuator is toast.

You can follow the instructions in http://trialsnuts.com/ecc.pdf to change your actuator yourself, if it'* bad, or there'* a "red neck" fix you can accomplish in about 15 minutes. There'* a thread on this somewhere...you can search for it. I'll try to find it and post it, but I'm sure someone else will beat me to the draw - there'* some fast posters on BC!

True, but if you are freezing or baking and can't "get to it" just, yet, then at least the redneck fix buys a little time. :P

Keep your Bonneville long enough and you probably will. LOL! I agree, however, everyone should have to do one...sort of like a right of passage to be called a true Bonneville aficionado.

Now that I've done one, I ain't skeered no more.

It seems to be more than just a Bonneville problem. The 2000 GMC Jimmy had one that did not work. That seemed to be an electrical, rather than mechanical problem, as when I took it apart, there were no broken gears. The design appears similar, if not that same as the one used in the Bonnevilles. The new one had an updated part number, so hopefully, there'* been some improvements made.
