You should have seen me getting at the back plugs. I should have had it videoed. You guys would have laughed your arses off.
I did go back to the AA store tonight to get some silicone adhesive for clearing the sidelights. I squared things with the guy at the counter. I had been a little rough on him. He explained it gets drummed into them to not sell the non-speced part. AA must be liable if they blow up your car.
It has been 35 years since I had the business end of a socket wrench in my hand with a look of intention at a car. That was the days of timing lights, points, and carburetors. Whoa, is it diferent now. Performance chips, scanners, PCMs, EGRs (burnt gas is rerouted back to the engine? What is that about?
Thanks to everybody for your help. I'm coming up to speed pretty quick with the info here.

Anyway, back on topic, let us know how it all turns out.
Agreed guys..
Having worked with a mechanic buddy quite a bit on the side I have learned the following.
1. Contortionist is a profession
2. There is no more setting up a car or distributor. It'* much easier (on stock)
3. Plugs, wires and fuel filters are still plugs, wires and fuel filters.
4. Engine degreaser is your friend.
