Possible problems with 4T60-E...
Ok since I've spent some time under my car lately I've noticed that my tyranny pan is marked 4T60-E. Now my understanding is that there are problems with this series.
What might that be, besides the issues that overheating might cause?
Also where the SC engines equipped with the 4T60-E HD and would the pan be marked as such?

There should be a code on it that you can use to tell. You never know if it was replaced so always go to the actual transaxle. A good cleaning regularly with a bigger aux cooler is the best way to go.

i might be wrong about this, but isnt the difference between the 4T60E and the 4T60E HD the final drive differential. i know that intense racing sells a conversion for the 4T65E to the 4T65E HD and you get just the differential, seal, housing cover, and the right front inner CV joint.
i think they made the HD final drive heavier to take the torque of the SC motors

The code you are looking for can be in a few places but the first place to look is on the passenger side underneath. Facing the rear of the car just in from that end of the unit. There should be two codes. The small line is the Vin the second is a bigger patch.
You cant miss them they are right and up from the pan when you are under the car facing toward the front of the car.
